Within the framework of the universities’ autonomy, as set forth in University Law 6/2001, UMH is entitled to create these kinds of special Chairs as specific structures to support research under the auspices of a department or research institute of the university.

Chairs may be encouraged by the Rector or endorsed by companies or other non-commercial entities and individuals with the aim of promoting Training, Technological Support and Assistance, Research & Development and Dissemination.

Chairs fostered by external entities are established by the signature of a Contract with the university, which must be previously approved by its competent authority.

Financial contributions for the creation and support of these Chairs may enjoy some fiscal benefits, as set forth in the current legislation.
